The journey begins on
a great starting hole with a
TPC-trademark sunken
fairway that exposes pros
to fan scrutiny. Players
need length and accuracy
off the tee here at the
434-yard, par 4 opener.
Most players will try to hit
driver to the right side of
the fairway, giving them
the best approach angle
into a green that’s protected
by two bunkers on the left
and one on the right.
Remember, a bogey or
birdie here on Thursday
counts as much as the
72nd hole on Sunday.

The 341-yard, par 4 second
hole is a definite birdie
opportunity. The tee shot
on this very short par 4 is
uphill to a hidden landing
area. The deep bunker on
the left side of the fairway
is dangerous, making
some tee shots stray to
the right. Players will
attempt to hit a 9-iron or
wedge close enough for
their three.
