It was all part of former PGA TOUR
Commissioner Deane Beman’s vision. He wanted
to provide players with quality golf courses that
would offer fans all over the world the best vantage
points to watch the best players showcase their
trade. Pete Dye’s TPC at Sawgrass became the
first Tournament Players Club to hold a PGA
TOUR event, becoming the permanent home
of THE PLAYERS Championship in 1982. Two
years later, the TPC River Highlands began its
stretch of championships with Dye’s design
over the existing layout of the Edgewood
Country Club. TPC River Highlands has been
welcoming dynamic golf action in
Connecticut’s PGA TOUR event ever since.
