Company, and President of the Georgia Railroad Bank &
Trust Company. He also served in North Carolina as
Regional Executive Vice President of First Union
Corporation.
Born and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina, Keith
earned a degree in Business Administration from
Davidson College, where he was a student athlete and
scholarship earner in both basketball and golf. He served
as an officer in the United States Army upon graduation.
When he’s not tending to his business interests, Keith is a
well-above average golfer and long-time member of
Quail Hollow as well as the Charlotte Country Club and
others throughout the Southeast.
“Mr. Harris asked me to join his club when I was with
First Union Bank back in 1967,” he said about his association
with Quail Hollow. “It’s a wonderful club and I’ve
enjoyed being a member there. I love the golf course.”
An avid golfer, his USGA Index exemplifies how much
he enjoys it.
“Right now, I’m a seven handicap. But really, the challenge
is just to shoot my age,” said Keith, who turned 75
in November of last year.
When he’s not announcing the world’s best players to
Charlotte’s golf fans, Keith serves as Chairman Emeritus
of the Board of Communities in Schools of North
Carolina, a Trustee of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte and
a board member of the Presbyterian Hospital Foundation,
The Good Fellows Club, Samaritans Purse and the Billy
Graham Evangelistic Association. He is an Elder at
Myers Park Presbyterian Church.
He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees
of Davidson College, the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte, the Arts and Science Council of Charlotte and
the Foundation of the Carolinas.
“Everyone involved in the Wachovia Championship is
very professional and top notch,” he said. “I am very
proud to be a part of it.”
