hroughout his amateur and professional
career, Tiger Woods has amassed numerous
awards and has broken countless scoring
and tournament records. The 2008 season
is starting very similar to last year, with Woods
winning his first start after he successfully defended
his title at the Buick Invitational .In his second
start, he earned his 63rd TOUR victory and 15th
World Golf Championships title at the WGC-
Accenture Match Play Championship. Last year, he
won seven times en route to capturing the inaugural
FedExCup and the Player of the Year award. He
won his 13th career major at the PGA
Championship (second all-time to Jack Nicklaus’ 18)
and finished the year with a career total of 61 official
PGA TOUR victories. Woods won his seventh
career Vardon Trophy and also captured the Byron
Nelson Award. His first victory came in his first
start of the season at the Buick Invitational and
then he later won the WGC-CA Championship. He
defeated Steve Stricker by two shots to claim the
title at the Wachovia Championship. His 70-68-68-
69—273 was a new tournament record. Woods then
collected his 14th World Golf Championships title
at the Bridgestone Invitational. After winning the
PGA Championship, Woods matched the low final
round of his career with an 8-under 63 to win the
BMW Championship by two strokes. He became
the first player to win THE TOUR Championship
multiple times, claiming his seventh title of the season
by eight strokes. Woods earned a $10-million
bonus for capturing the FedExCup along with $1.26
million for winning the event. He capped off his
season by winning the Target World Challenge by
seven shots.
