Welcome to the 2008 Wachovia Championship at Quail Hollow Club. The Wachovia
Championship has grown to be one of the most popular events on the PGA TOUR,
and this year should be no exception. As the title sponsor for the sixth year in a row,
we are excited to share with you a few highlights of the tournament:
Last year’s Wachovia Championship attracted the top 10 players and 27 of the top 30 players,
according to the World Golf Ranking.
Phil Mickelson, Steve Stricker, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk and 2007 Wachovia Championship
winner Tiger Woods have embraced the traditional style and exquisite course layout and design of
Quail Hollow Club.
Quail Hollow Club has had the toughest three finishing holes on the entire PGA TOUR schedule
for the past few years.
The 2008 purse of $6.4 million ranks in the top tier among PGA TOUR events.
Teach For America has again been selected as the primary charitable beneficiary of the Wachovia
Championship and will receive proceeds from the tournament. Teach For America is the national
corps of outstanding recent college graduates who commit two years to teaching in urban and rural
public schools across the country. As the primary charitable beneficiary the past five years, Teach
For America has received more than $5 million in support from the Wachovia Championship.
From its inception in 2002, the Wachovia Championship was intended to be a tradition that would
bring customers, players and patrons back each year for the unforgettable experience of being
treated as a champion. While the success of this event has all been made possible with Wachovia’s
support, let me acknowledge the ingenuity of the tournament organization, the dedication of the
volunteers, the elegance of the hospitality events and the enthusiasm of the spectators.
