WELCOME FROM THE LAJCC
On behalf of the members of the LAJCC Charity Foundation, welcome to the inaugural
Northern Trust Open. Since 1926, this golf tournament, the oldest civic-managed
event on the PGA TOUR, has generated over $50 million dollars for charity.
Every year, the LAJCC Charity Foundation invests the proceeds from the tournament into several
year-round and annual events that seek to improve the lives of those we serve. Through Safe
Passage Tennis and Urban Youth Golf, which teach life-skills through athletics, to the L.A. Watts
Summer Games, the largest high school athletic competition in the country, and the Foster Family
Picnic, as well as many other community-based projects, the LAJCC positively impacts the lives of
over 11,000 children and teenagers in the greater Los Angeles area.
For over 80 years, the LAJCC has been the premier organization in Los Angeles to train, educate
and bring together young professionals for leadership, networking and community service.
Through the Riordan Volunteer Leadership Program (RVLDP), over 600 people have been trained
and prepared for life-long service in the governance of non-profit organizations. In addition, the
LAJCC offers many other opportunities for young professionals to come together and make a difference
in their lives and the lives of others.
The Board of Directors extends its sincerest appreciation to the tournament volunteers and professional
staff of the LAJCC for its tireless efforts and dedication to the success of this year’s tournament.
To Mr. Noboru Watanabe, his staff and the members of the Riviera Country Club, the
LAJCC thanks you for years of gracious hospitality at your beautiful and historic venue. To Tom
Pulchinski, Tournament Director, and the entire Tournament Committee, the Board of Directors
thanks you for your devotion to this tournament. Your passion has enabled us to present the City
of Los Angeles and its residents with one of the PGA TOUR’s premier events.
To our guests this week, thank you for attending the 82nd Northern Trust Open. Thank you for
continuing to support the Los Angeles community and the youth we serve. We hope you have a
wonderful time and an experience that will last a lifetime!
