WELCOME FROM THE GOVERNOR
Welcome to California and greetings to the participants and spectators of the 2008
Northern Trust Open. I commend the organizers and sponsors for their hard work to
make this historic tournament a fantastic success. Their efforts to stage a world-class
competition in the spectacular Pacific Palisades area are appreciated and will build
on the tournament’s distinguished history.
As a former professional athlete, I know the preparation that goes into being successful, and each
golfer can be proud of what he has achieved to play in this tournament. They are ambassadors of
the game, and I am grateful for the spirit of determination they display on the course.

to the 2008 Northern Trust Open. I am pleased to join in celebrating this highly
anticipated golf tournament. The City of Los Angeles looks forward to hosting the best
golfers in the world at one of the PGA TOUR’s most prestigious competitions.
I applaud the LAJCC for managing the Northern Trust Open. The LAJCC is committed to serving
