Edward “This is probably the most enjoyable and
rewarding job situation I’ve ever been in,”
Butterfield said. “This is incredibly fun. The
players are just the best. Plus, when someone
comes to see me, they generally leave happier
than when they showed up. It’s nice to see them

smile when we finish.”
Through the years, Butterfield has seen quite an
evolution in the hair and clothing world.
“The styles today are much more compatible and
extremely fun to work with compared to even 10
years ago,” she said. “For example, today’s golf
clothing designers are putting out a tremendous
selection of outfits for the players compared to
when I started doing this nine years ago. The
shirts were boxy. Not very pretty.Today’s look is
more feminine and has more of a street-wear
style.”
Butterfield says fashion has taken the direction
that jeans have gone in. “The flared leg is still as
popular as the boot leg, and the straight leg. You
can wear them skin tight or a little loose. It’s
pretty much anything goes,” Butterfield said.
“Not everyone looks great in really tight-fitted
jeans. Not everyone looks good in a skort. We’re
in a place right now that you can shop for your
own body type and look good.”
Same with shoes. Butterfield said heels are still
popular, but so are the cute ballerina shoes. “I
love this time we’re in right now because we’re
not seeing everyone in the same thing. People
are selecting their wardrobes for what they look
good in and not what a designer says you need to
wear. It allows a person to express a little of their
own personality in their appearance. So on the
golf course you’re seeing everything and anything.”
And colors, too. Butterfield said the colors the
players are wearing on the course are very closely
related to what one would see on the street.

“You can walk off the course today and go to an
early dinner just by putting on a different pair of
shoes or by slipping on a jacket. It helps that the
people in the fashion design industry are playing
golf these days so they have a pretty good beat on
what they want to wear, which is translating into
some pretty nice things on the course.”
Butterfield said the players don’t always have
time to go home or back to the hotel and change
to get ready for another segment of their day. A
particular day in the life of a player might include
a business meeting, some golf and a dinner. All
they have to do is bring along the right accessories.
Michelob ULTRA Ambassador Natalie Gulbis
agrees. “I love how fashion is becoming more
