THE WIN CAME IN PETTERSEN'S 82ND
LPGA TOUR EVENT, AND MADE HER
THE FIRST NORWEGIAN EVER TO WIN
ON THE PREMIER WOMEN'S TOUR.

Edward The win came in Pettersen's 82nd LPGA Tour
event, and made her the first Norwegian ever to
win on the premier women's tour.
When Pettersen's putt fell, she pumped her

right fist in celebration and then doubled over,
trying to create a private moment to savor
before she was doused with beer.
"It feels special, I must say," she said. "Well, I
didn't expect to win."
On Thursday, Pettersen opened with a 66, but
found herself four strokes back after a calm
River Course gave up some really low scores.
The surprisingly receptive 6,306-yard layout
allowed 69 of the field of 144 to shoot par or
better on a course where the greens were softer
than usual.
Sarah Lee tied the course record with an 8under
63, and Mi Hyun Kim was one back after
a bogey-free 64 in wind-free conditions.
Laura Davies and Birdie Kim both shot 65 in
the afternoon when some wind kicked up on
the course along the James River, but the
assault on par lessened only slightly.
